St David is the patron saint of Wales in the UK. Wales is not a region but one of the four nations that make up the UK. It has its own language, culture and national anthem.

St David lived in the sixth century and was Archbishop of Wales. However, he lived a simple life and was a gentle person. He spread the Gospel in the Celtic parts of Britain.

On St David’s Day in Wales many people wear a daffodil, as it is a symbol of Wales. There are music festivals and competitions and people eat traditional little cakes called Welshcakes.
